Ekphrastic:

A traveling exhibit by members of the Fibre Art Network The FAN exhibition Ekphrastic opened at the LaConner Quilt and Textile Museum in LaConner, Washington in October 2016. Ekphrastic, a travelling exhibition, will be shown at venues until December 2019.

The word 'Ekphrasis' means a rhetorical device whereby one medium of art is created to relate to another medium of art. Usually Ekphrastic poetry is created to respond to a piece of art.

FAN put a distinctive spin on this process by inviting twelve well known Canadian poets to contribute a poem of their choosing. Each of the twelve poems was interpreted by four FAN members in a wide range of styles.

The Ekphrastic exhibition is a unique showcase of the collective talents of Canadian poets and fibre artists.

20/20 Vision'             Fibre Art Network

My youngest sister is blind and so the concept of 20/20 vision is meaningless for her. As I pondered this, I thought about how many other people in this world have a different perspective on life. This piece honours all those who “see” the world from another perspective.
